What is a good buck to doe ratio?

A perfect buck to doe ratio would be an even 1:1 ratio, although this is rarely seen. Most biologists agree a healthy deer heard can have up to a 3:1 doe to buck ratio.

Some people will claim to have a 10:1 or even 15:1 doe to buck ratio, but this is very hard to actually happen in nature. Most people feel this way because they see more does than bucks. Just because you don’t see them doesn’t mean they aren’t there. Bucks are naturally more elusive and nocturnal by nature.
