The JX3 Versa Backpack is the hunting backpack built for saddle hunters who want to stay mobile, organized, and quiet in the woods. It is the foundation of the JX3 Versa Pack System and carries one of two ways: hooked into the harness on the JX3 Versa Bino Pack, or mounted to the JX3 Hybrid Hunting Saddle frame. It holds enough for a full day in the woods, and it stays light enough that the walk in never feels like a chore.

This is a purchase of the JX3 Versa Backpack only.

    Simpy perfect

This is perfect balance of the size and usefulness. Great 1 day pack for saddle hunting. Run it second season and super happy with it. Made my own straps and forgot "delta" connection on the back as a bad dream. It is fine with jx3 stand (no straps) also.

What the Versa Backpack Is Built For

The Versa Backpack is a day pack first. It's sized for the way most whitetail hunters actually hunt, light enough to go far and the right size for everything you need during a long sit. The main compartment fits an extra layer, a water bottle, snacks, a range finder, calls, and everything else you reach for during a hunt without overpacking. The compact design keeps the load tight against your back so you stay quiet on the walk in and the climb up.

How you carry it depends on your setup. Hook the Versa Backpack into the harness that comes with the JX3 Versa Bino Pack and the two ride together, with the backpack on your back and bino pack on your chest. If you run the JX3 Hybrid, the Versa Backpack mounts straight to the seat hook on the saddle frame instead. The backpack is built to connect into the system, not to be slung over your shoulders on its own.

For hunters who want the full setup, the Versa Backpack is also the backpack included in the JX3 Versa Pack System, which adds a bino pack with harness, left and right saddle bags, a dump pouch, hand warmer, and harness.

How the Versa Backpack Works with Your Hybrid

The Versa Backpack was built around the Hybrid, not adapted to fit it after the fact. The backpack attaches to the seat hook on the Hybrid pack frame and when you reach hunting height, the pack comes off the frame and hangs on a branch or tree hook within arm's reach.

For hunters who run the JX3 Climbing Stick Set, they attach to the back of the seat frame which is folded up around the Versa Backpack and attach to the same seat hook. Your Hybrid saddle is on your back, and your hunting gear is organized in one bag, giving you the kind of mobility traditional setups can't match.

If you are not hunting out of the Hybrid, the Versa Backpack attaches to the bino pack harness. The pack hooks to the harness and rides on your back while the bino pack sits on your chest, balancing the load front to back and keeping your binoculars, rangefinder, phone, and calls in reach without taking the pack off.

Why Hunters Choose the Versa Backpack Over Other Hunting Packs

There are bigger hunting backpacks on the market. There are lighter ones. The Versa Backpack hits the spot most saddle hunters actually need: enough room for a real day hunt, light enough to disappear on your back, and built to integrate with the rest of your hunting setup.

The CORDURA shell handles rigorous testing in the field, and the TPU coating sheds moisture. Internal organization slots keep small gear from rattling around, a built-in space for a hydration pack, and the carabiner loops give you anchor points for anything you want clipped on the outside.

Hunters tell us the Versa Backpack stands out because it isn't a repurposed backcountry hunting pack trying to fit a saddle hunter's needs. Every connection point, pocket, and strap was placed with the climb and the sit in mind.

Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How big is the Versa Backpack?
The main compartment is 1,530 cubic inches, measuring 17"W x 9"H x 10"D. That's enough room for a full day hunt with layers, water, calls, a range finder, and snacks without packing heavy. The Versa Backpack weighs 1.3 pounds empty, which makes it one of the lighter day packs in its size class. The compact design keeps the load close to your back so the weight doesn't shift on a long walk in.
Is the Versa Backpack hydration compatible?
Yes. The pack includes a dedicated hydration bladder compartment. The bladder is sold separately.
Does the Versa Backpack work with the JX3 Hybrid?
Yes. The Versa Backpack is designed to mount directly to the Hybrid's seat hook. Pack, saddle, and sticks move as one unit and stay locked together for the climb.
What is the Versa Backpack made of?
The shell is 100% CORDURA 600-denier polyester with a strategic TPU coating. The liner is 100% recycled 200-denier polyester. Both materials are built to hold up to rigorous use season after season.
Can I use the Versa Backpack on its own?
The Versa Backpack is not currently a standalone pack. It is built to connect into the system rather than to be worn like a conventional backpack, so it carries one of two ways: hooked into the harness that comes with the JX3 Versa Bino Pack, or mounted to the JX3 Hybrid saddle frame. Most hunters run the backpack and bino pack together, since the bino pack harness is what lets you carry the Versa Backpack on the walk in. The bino pack can also be used on its own as a chest pack.
Does the Versa Backpack come with a rain cover?
No. The CORDURA shell with TPU coating handles light moisture. For serious wet weather, a separate lightweight rain cover is an easy add.
Is shipping free?
JX3 Outdoors offers free shipping in the US on all orders over $199. The Versa Backpack at $74.99 falls below that threshold on its own, but pairing it with the bino pack, accessories, and/or the Hybrid gets you there. See the Shipping and Returns page for full details.
